Whether you are looking for musical or visual art events, related to ancient or modern times – Rab Island has everything. The most popular and attractive Rab event is Rapska fjera – a medieval festival held in homage to St. Christopher, island’s patron saint, taking place on the narrow streets of the ancient center of the Town of Rab. This wonderful tradition is loved by everyone. Experience the Middle Ages by getting a peek at the life of blacksmiths, stonecutters, basket weavers, honey makers, scribes, ceramic makers, painters... A sense of danger, associated with the Middle Ages, is conveyed by the traditional crossbow competition – the great finale of the festival Rapska fjera. The event is accompanied by concerts of a capella and kumpar songs and takes place from July 25th to July 27th. Crossbowmen from Rab, besides during the St. Christopher’s festival on July 27th, also demonstrate their skills several times a year at the island’s medieval fairs. Classical music concerts of the Rab Musical Evenings are held on Rab throughout the summer, while those who prefer contemporary music can look for more trendy sounds at open air concerts of the Rab Summer Festival during the first half of August. Rab Island is the host of numerous art exhibitions throughout the year, however, most of them still take place in the summer.
